Andrea Barthwell
Andrea Barthwell MD, DFASAM
Dr. Andrea Grubb Barthwell is Founder and CEO of Two Dreams, a comprehensive wellness center for the treatment of alcoholism and substance use disorders. She is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Washington, D.C.-based global healthcare and policy-consulting firm EMGlobal LLC. Barthwell served as Deputy Director for Demand Reduction in the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President George W. Bush from 2002 to 2004. Her current work is focused on developing strategies to expand access to treatment for opioid dependence disorder, expanding practitioner knowledge of urine drug testing in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders, and helping individuals and families prevent substance use disorders with the lecture series, “The Parents Academy.” Barthwell received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wesleyan University and a medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. In 2003, she received the Betty Ford Award from the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse. In 1997, her peers named her one of the "Best Doctors in America" in addiction medicine.

Christine Courtois, PhD, ABPP

Christine A. Courtois, PhD, ABPP, retired from clinical practice in Washington, DC in 2016, after 35 years. In the recent past, she has co-authored Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, co-edited two books on approaches to the treatment of complex trauma in adults and children/adolescents, co-authored one book for clinicians on the treatment process for complex trauma, co-edited Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy for Trauma, and authored the consumer book It’s Not You, It’s What Happened to You. Dr. Courtois lectures widely on these and other topics. She is currently chair of the Guideline Development Panel for PTSD Treatment for the American Psychological Association and for guidelines on the treatment of complex trauma for several professional organizations. She has received the American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Professional Practice, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Sarah Haley Award for Clinical Excellence, and most recently the American Board of Professional Psychology, 2016 Distinguished Service Award to the Profession of Psychology.

Britten Devereux

As one of the founders of D’Amore Healthcare, Britten Devereux addresses concepts around scarcity, process addiction, comorbidity and healthcare in terms of long-term needs. A Grand Canyon State University and Arizona State University alumnus, Devereux is committed to create better healthcare standards. With experience working as a clinical supervisor, then managing director, she ensures patients are treated with dignity and that services focus on positive reinforcement and what she likes to call “gracious redundancy.”

Pete Nielsen
Pete Nielsen MA, CADC-II
Pete Nielsen is the chief executive officer for the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP), CCAPP Credentialing, and CCAPP Education Institute. Nielsen played a major role in navigating the consolidation of the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors and the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources. He is currently the co-chair for the criminal justice credential for the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium and is on the advisory board for the Behavioral Health Association of Providers. Additionally, he is chair of the workforce development group for the Youth Advisory Group with the Department of Health Care Services and is trained as a marriage family therapist intern.

Christine A. Padesky, PhD, co-founder, Center for Cognitive Therapy (Huntington Beach) is a licensed clinical psychologist and leading cognitive behavior therapy innovator. She provides workshops and consultation for therapists worldwide, develops CD and DVD CBT training materials, and is co-author of five books, including Mind Over Mood, Second Edition. With over a million copies sold in 23 languages, Mind Over Mood has won national and international awards. Dr. Padesky’ s honors include the Distinguished Contribution to Psychology award (California Psychological Association) and the Aaron T. Beck Award for her enduring contributions to the field (Academy of Cognitive Therapy).

Siegel is Assistant Professor of Psychology, part time, Harvard Medical School; serves on the Board of Directors and faculty, Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy; is author of The Mindfulness Solution: Everyday Practices for Everyday Problems, coauthor of Back Sense: A Revolutionary Approach to Halting the Cycle of Chronic Back Pain and Sitting Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy; and coeditor of Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, 2nd Edition.
