Addiction is the masked bandit that steals away control in the night and puts on false capes of super power and blinders to the truth around them. Waiting for the identified loved one who experiences a mental health and/or substance use crisis to change may be pure folly if those around him/her do not take courageous steps and look at their own behavior patterns. In this interactive session, the presenter maintains “we all fall, and with strength and courageous action, the journey takes us up.” The power of family mapping as a way in allows us to start the journey.
 
Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Explain, describe and demonstrate what family mapping Is and how to do
  • Summarize and explain how family mapping relates to the concepts of shame trauma and joy.
  • Demonstrate ways in which psycho-education workshops such as family mapping and allow for families to begin rewriting their own narratives.
