Deborah Dahl is the VP Patient Care Innovation, focusing on technologies and processes to improve clinical outcomes for patients at Banner Health. Significant introductions to Banner include iCare an extensive acute care Telemedicine program including Tele-ICU, Med/Surg and eConsult. The eICU provides physicians and nurses to Banner ICUs assisting Banner in Mortality 42% better than predicted by APACHE. Our iCare Med Surg monitors Med Surg patients 24/7 and is the beta site for the eHospital concept.

At 55,000 square feet, Banner’s Simulation Medical Center is the largest Simulated Medical Center in the US. All new Banner RNs spend their third week of orientation in 4 their simulated unit with full patient loads and 4 hour scenarios. This model has reduced our new grad RN preceptor time by one full week.

Prior to this she was an Administrator for Banner Desert Medical Center, the largest most comprehensive hospital in the East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix. More than 1,500 physicians and 3,500 employees work at the 600 plus bed facility which annually sees more than 100,000 patients in the ED, delivers more than 9,000 babies and provides care for some 1,300 newly diagnosed cancer patients.

Prior to that, Deborah was the Vice President of Technology and Materials where she led the Technology Management and Materials and Purchasing services. She began her career with Samaritan Health System (prior to its merger, becoming Banner Health) in bioengineering and has held various engineering and management positions since.

She holds a BSE and an MBA from Arizona State University.
