Description
Stimulant Use Disorder epidemics have waxed and waned in the United States and other nations since the Second World War. This presentation will review the four phases of a typical drug epidemic as a framework for exploring the non-medical use of pharmaceutic amphetamines and illicit stimulants in the second half of the 20th Century and the first two decades of the 21st.
Participants will be able to:
• Name the 4 Phases of a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Epidemic.
• List 3 examples of Supply Side and 3 examples of Demand Side contributing factors that may impact a drug epidemic.
• Cite an example of how shifting trends in one or more contributing factors may help predict problems and at-risk populations before an epidemic spreads.
