Cocaine and methamphetamine presentations are increasing among psychiatrists and other clinicians in emergency, psychiatric and drug treatment facilities but with a paucity of treatments. However, some new ideas and approaches for clinicians have surfaced recently. This presentation will offer new approaches for overdose, detoxification and relapse prevention as well as provide a review of the most recent 2018 Drug Enforcement Agency surveillance data which has clearly demonstrated record levels of coca cultivation, cocaine processing, and smuggling into the United States. The presenter will review U.S. data that shows increased use in cocaine as well as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports showing cocaine is second behind opioids in drug overdose deaths.

Objectives:
- Understand the most recent 2018 DEA surveillance data involving cocaine.
- Understand data analysis showing increased use of cocaine and overdose deaths.
- Apply new concepts and approaches in treatment and prevention.
