As Director of IS Experience, Marc Sylwestrzak works to ensure IT technologies that may impact the patient experience at UC San Diego Health, are aligned with enterprise initiatives. In this role he also oversees the UCSD Health Customer Service team as well as our web services team, which includes support of patient portals and all customer facing web sites.

Marc's duties also include chairing the IT Patient Experience steering committee, who's' responsibilities include providing executive level oversight for the development of standards, policies, and the prioritization of various technology-related initiatives and projects that are specifically related to patient experience, including current IT strategies that may integrate with new technologies.

Marc acts as the business relationship manager between IT and the UC San Diego Health Experience team, ensuring their business objectives relating to the patient experience are being adequately addressed and that projects remain under control. In supporting the Customer Support team, he strives to create a culture that is responsive and reliable, through engaged team members who are empowered, motivated and skilled, and have a clear understanding of their impact on our patient care. As the Director of the Health Sciences Web Services team, Marc provide strategic guidance and support for all departments within the Health system enterprise, on the purchase and implementation of web applications, ensuring compliance with current HIPAA regulations. This includes overseeing a team of developers in support of enhancing current web applications and assessing business requirements and department needs to support and develop new applications. Additional responsibilities include representing IT and UC San Diego Health Sciences on various UC-wide initiatives that involve collaboration among multiple universities and industry leaders.
