The opioid epidemic is a complex problem that requires a sustained, comprehensive set of actions on the part of federal, state and local government.  This session will examine some of the drivers of the epidemic and the federal response. It will also include a discussion of the current Administration’s actions to date and their likely impact on the trajectory of the epidemic.
 
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
  • Gain knowledge of both the historical factors as well as the drivers that have contributed to the opioid epidemic in the United States
  • Understand the actions of the current administration in reforming drug policy and addressing the epidemic
  • Understand the likely impact of current federal actions and their potential impact on treatment and recovery services.
