The Internet and social media world continues to grow and dominate our reality, whether we like it or not. In truth, most healthy millennials seem to be doing quite well living their social media focused lives in our evolving tech-based world. And yet others are overly distracted, disconnected or addicted, making them unable to move seamlessly from the digital world to real life and back. We clearly see this problem as it relates to compulsive online gaming, spending and sexual behavior. How are we to find our way to connection and meaning (for ourselves, our families and our clients) while negotiating this unfamiliar and fast changing landscape? This session is focused on separating rumor from fact about the digital world, while introducing new online trends, while encouraging an unbiased view toward bringing our best work and best selves into these fast-evolving realities.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Understand the basics of virtual reality and what this new technology might bring us in the days to come.
  • Identify and define online habits and hobbies including compulsive and addictive online behaviors.
  • Understand 3 guidelines to improve their own clinical work in the digital age.
