Description
Sober living environments have received much attention over the past year, but in large part for the wrong reasons. Recovery residences are at the center of fraud investigations in many states, as they are often used as a tool to lure vulnerable consumers into substandard care environments. When standards are followed, however, sober living plays a beneficial role in the recovery process. The federal government and a number of states are beginning to craft more stringent standards as they begin to recognize the problem. This panel will examine the value of implementing standards for sober homes and how policy at the state and federal level is shaping improved ethics.
