Spiritual care in addiction treatment is increasingly recognized as a core piece of a holistic interdisciplinary approach, but what defines spiritual care and how it impact client outcomes must be addressed. How can addiction treatment providers
assure that the spiritual care they provide doesn’t veer toward the extremes of rigidity or meaninglessness? This
presentation will define professional spiritual care, outline what standards need to be applied to spiritual care
providers, and present evidence of the effect of professional spiritual care on patient outcomes, including retention, satisfaction and completion of treatment
