The struggles associated with addiction are rivaled only by our struggle to understand it. In this session, presenters will introduce an integrated system concerned with addiction management by coupling genetic testing with neuro-nutrients to promote “dopamine homeostasis.” The concept involves analyzing a person’s DNA to determine a genetic addiction risk score to help people better understand their genetic predisposition toward addictive behaviors. Homeostasis (balance or regulation) is the goal. While the presentation will focus on genetic testing as it relates to genetic addiction risk score, it will also show how this technology could potentially save lives by providing scientific evidence to show how micronutrients have the potential to induce dopamine homeostasis. Presenters will share findings and anecdotal experience in patients utilizing this "Precision Addiction Management" approach.
