Carlo C. DiClemente, PhD, ABPP, is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for Community Collaboration at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). In the laboratory at UMBC, he and his graduate students conduct projects that focus on smoking initiation and cessation, SBIRT training, motivation and stages of change for various health behaviors, mechanism of change in addiction, implementation and dissemination of empirically supported treatments, and creating integrative screening instruments to support client collaboration and integrated care. DiClemente is co-developer of the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change, and author of numerous scientific publications on motivation and behavior change with a variety of health and addictive behaviors.
