Description
This session will present the Women Matter! Training Tool Box developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to help programs deliver customized training on addressing the unique needs of women with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Participants will also complete a self-assessment to identify their strengths and resources for conducting presentations and learning programs. The tool box enables clinical supervisors, program directors, and advocates to customize professional development for providers, clinicians, and peers in diverse settings across the addiction continuum. Session participants will gain resources and skills to better serve women; to train staff and others on gender-responsive, trauma-informed approaches; and to make a compelling case for effective interventions for women. Each session participant will receive a copy of the Training Tool Box on a flash drive. There is no charge for participants to use the Training Tool Box.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Use the training tool box to create a professional development session for staff.
  • Articulate a compelling case for integrated trauma and addiction services for women across the addiction continuum.
  • Identify personal strengths and resources to use in workforce development, supervision, and leadership.
