Description
Addiction behaviors viewed through the lens of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) offers clinicians an evidenced based model to address the bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of clients in addiction treatment. Body-based intervention can support the foundational skills inherent in DBT to shift harmful behaviors and thoughts into effective ways of being. This session will explore the integration of DBT and body-based interventions in addiction treatment.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Identify addiction behaviors and addiction related behaviors with the model of DBT’s levels of treatment targets.
  • Describe body-based interventions that support distress tolerance, craving and triggers.
  • Plan a group therapy session integrating DBT model and body based-interventions.
