Description
This session will focus on providing the attendee with an exploration of the current substance disorder program resources and treatment philosophies within the Department of Defense. The presenter will also discuss workforce status, and an overview of the possible impact and future trends of substance use on the military and veteran population.
 
Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Identify and correctly name the types of SUD interventions, levels of care, treatment obstacles, possible career impact and continuing care risk factors of active duty and veteran service people.
  • Describe, discuss and differentiate latest information available for the systems of care available for SUD-impacted service members and veterans.
  • Become familiar with realistic outcome expectations from application of levels of care using anecdotal illustrations that enable the participant to formulate treatment plans that maximize use of the resources available to better serve their SUD treatment needs.
