Description
Out of control sexual behavior (OCSB), frequently labeled "sex addiction" or "sexual compulsivity," has been a controversial topic for over 30 years. In the absence of an accepted diagnosis, the presenters have designed an integrative and evidence-based protocol to guide treatment with men concerned about sexual problems. As opposed to a clinical disorder, the presenters define OCSB as a sexual health problem in which an individual’s consensual sexual urges, thoughts or behaviors feel out of control. This session reviews factors that contribute to OCSB, components of their protocol, and six sexual health principles for mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Apply sexual health principles to the assessment and treatment of sexual behavior problems and out of control sexual behavior (OCSB).
- Apply a non-pathological conceptualization of OCSB to treatment planning.
- Utilize a three-stage assessment protocol for effective OCSB treatment planning.
