The opioid crisis has become America’s #1 public health emergency. Treatment professionals are in a position to influence everyday citizens and policy makers alike, but finding the right avenues can be a challenge. At the same time, treatment professionals can struggle with staying up-to-date on the latest developments in America’s prescription drug abuse and heroin epidemic.
To address these needs, Addiction Professional magazine has organized a lunch’n’learn in Boca Raton to discuss how treatment professionals can better work together and become effective change agents for educating the public as well as helping to bring about a comprehensive prevention and broad-based treatment strategy.
Upon attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand recent developments in the opioid crisis and its impact on the local community
- Prepare discussion points to share with the community
- Explore ways treatment professionals of all types can better work together to ensure a recovery-oriented system of care

Kyle Sarrecchia
Executive Director, Pathway to Hope & Ocean Breeze Recovery
Kyle Sarrecchia is Executive Director of Pathway to Hope and Ocean Breeze Recovery. Sarrecchia earned his degree as a Certified Addiction Counselor and began working in the field in August 2006. Sarrecchia has held a variety of positions since that time, including Behavioral Tech, Case Manager, Admissions Coordinator, and Therapist. He has been responsible for taking calls from distressed families and addicts, offering them help and direction. His devotion to helping those struggling with addiction often meant answering calls 24 hours a day. During Sarrecchia's employment with a detox facility, he acted as a primary counselor to every client who walked through the door. Sarrecchia specializes in conflict resolution, relapse prevention, and motivational groups.
Dr. Aldo Morales

Dr. Aldo Morales was born in Havana, Cuba. His interest in pharmacology and addiction stems from his undergraduate degree from Rutgers College of Pharmacy, New Jersey. After studying abroad for his medical degree he returned to New Jersey to complete a four-year Psychiatry residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Morales is Board Certified in both Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and is a Charter Member of the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He has served as a consultant to various State agencies and to Major League Baseball.
Dr. Morales is on the adjunct faculty at FAU, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine in Boca Raton, Florida. He has practiced for more than twenty-five years in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, where he has been an active voice in promoting the message that addiction is a treatable condition, not a moral failing.
An avid musician since his teenage years, when not practicing medicine Dr. Morales can be found sitting in with his buddies from the South Florida music scene.

Dr. Ashish “Ash” Bhatt, MD

Dr. Ashish “Ash” Bhatt, MD, is a Triple Board (TB) certified physician, recognized as a leading psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. He is also board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Bhatt completed his fellowship at the University of Miami through Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, where he also served as assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and as chief and medical director of child and adolescent acute inpatient and emergency crisis services. He has been involved in the academic training of multiple medical and psychiatric fellows, residents and medical students as well as psychology interns and pharmacy interns at the University of Miami. Dr. Bhatt has extensive experience working in substance abuse, psychiatric and dual diagnosis programs for adults and adolescents. With experience in both medical and administrative leadership positions in multiple inpatient, detox, residential and outpatient settings, Dr. Bhatt is highly recognized for his thorough and comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and assessment processes, using the latest in evidence-based treatment approaches to address the needs of patients.
Brad Sorte

Brad Sorte serves as the Executive Director of Caron Renaissance & Caron Ocean Drive in Boca Raton, Florida as well as Vice President of Florida Operations for Caron Treatment Centers, where he serves as a member of the Caron Executive Team. Brad has combined his knowledge of business and clinical practice into his role as Executive Director to provide a culture where the business of healthcare never interferes with the fundamental needs of each individual client. Brad has worked as a Family Therapist at Caron Renaissance, where he facilitated daily group sessions with current patients, weekly sessions with families, family workshops and the Residential Family Restructuring Program. He was also a Primary Therapist at Ocean Drive, where he worked closely with patients and families of high net worth to help address pre-existing barriers to recovery and achieve lasting systemic change. Prior to his work at Caron, Brad worked in various positions within the behavioral healthcare field, starting as a behavioral health tech and subsequently as a case manager and psychotherapist. Brad has a passion for looking at the entire family system when helping a patient recover from alcoholism, chemical dependency and process addictions. Drawing from his years of practice working with families, Brad believes that for the best chance of success, each family member must participate and feel supported in the healing process. Brad has also played a significant role in addiction and behavioral healthcare as a featured speaker at conferences in the United States and abroad on topics from family recovery and young adult addiction, to the changing landscape of behavioral healthcare. He has also been featured in the Palm Beach Post and Miami Herald, as well as various industry publications. Brad is a member of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He serves as a board member and chair of the policy committee for the Florida Alliance for Recovery as well as an advisory board member for the Delray Beach Drug Task Force. Brad holds both a Master of Social Work and a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida Atlantic University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rice University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from Kaplan University.
