Ben Lunsford is Vice President in Humana’s Value-Based Strategies organization accountable for value-based program operations and payment innovation.
Lunsford has 17 years of experience in Managed Care and Payor/Provider relations. At Humana, Lunsford has led efforts in Provider Development as Director of Value-Based Contracting over Humana’s Mid-South, Gulf States, and Southeast Regions. Subsequently, as Vice President of Provider Engagement and then Vice President of Payment Innovation he applied a wide-range of experience to developing best practices for value-based contracting and evaluation of innovative value-based payment models.
Prior to his 14 year career at Humana, Lunsford led account management for AIM Healthcare Services’ Alabama region (Optum) accountable for Integrated Delivery System Revenue Cycle/Credit Balance review for 20 hospitals across the state.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) and currently resides with his family in Birmingham, Alabama. Away from work, he enjoys music and exploring the outdoors with his wife and three sons.
