Upon attending this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Define mindfulness and explain how teaching mindfulness-informed skills assist professionals in working with recovery principles.
  • Describe the risks of working with pure mindfulness meditation practices with recovering individuals.
  • Apply the modifications suggested for optimal trauma-focused and addiction-responsive care and instruct three mindfulness-informed skills with appropriate modifications made for those in recovery from opioid use disorders.
Jamie Marich, Ph.D., LPCC-S, LICDC-CS, REAT, director of Mindful Ohio & The Institute for Creative Mindfulness, travels internationally teaching on EMDR therapy, trauma, addiction, expressive arts. Jamie is the author of EMDR Made Simple: 4 Approaches for Using EMDR with Every Client, Trauma and the Twelve Steps: A Complete Guide for Recovery Enhancement, Trauma Made Simple: Competencies in Assessment, Treatment, and Working with Survivors, and Dancing Mindfulness: A Creative Path to Healing and Transformation.
