In 2013, George Klauser was named Executive Director of Lutheran Social Service’s brand-new Altair accountable care collaborative. The program applies compassionate redesign that offers people with disabilities a life-planning process where they make their own choices. Klauser will use his experience as a health care consultant, and his seat on the Executive Cabinet, to streamline the expansion of programs and services for people with disabilities, and older adults. Speaking of his appointment, he stated, “LSS is fully committed to the values it holds for building health and happy futures for all Minnesotans. I am honored to be part of an organization that has committed the last 150 years to providing services for the good of the people that furthers their life goals to contribute as a meaningful member of society. As I cabinet member, I am proud to be a member of this very talented group of executives and contribute my passion for helping my neighbors as we work together to shape the future of LSS.”

Klauser is responsible for managing a collaboration of community services and medical partners that represent the Altair collaborative that utilize the Minnesota approved health information exchange for 10,300 members. His duties include strategic planning, development of a system that improves the quality of life for people with disabilities, and representation of key Altair stakeholders in discussions with the Minnesota Department of Health and Human Services.

Klauser has held various leadership technology positions where he has built a proven track record of leadership and contribution in challenging business environments. He has demonstrated the ability to build cohesive teams that achieve record setting performance. Klauser has served as Vice President of Service and Operations for Xiotech Corporation, Chief Operation Officer and Vice President of Virtual Growth, Inc., and President and Executive Vice President of Ceridian Employer Services. Prior to joining Lutheran Social Service, he served as Chairman of the Board, Vice Chairman and Secretary before becoming President and CEO of Opportunity Partners, a partner organization within the Altair collaborative.

Klauser attended Cardinal Stretch College. Later at the University of Minnesota, he earned additional credentials after completing the Executive Development program. Klauser then explored leadership in the nonprofit landscape at the University of St. Thomas, where he completed a mini- master’s program in nonprofit management.

His previous experience includes advising other non-profit and health organizations, county and state agencies. He is a member of committees that drive improvements in support of people with disabilities, including the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) and MOHR, Minnesota’s Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation. He also has served as advisor to Stratus Health and Co- Chairs the Minnesota Department Social Services Innovation Group and e-Health advisory Group of the Health Committee.
