Pamela Rush is Clinical Programs Director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Service Line at Allina Health in Minneapolis. Her broad healthcare background has positioned Ms. Rush well to help shape the innovation space. In addition to experience as a bedside nurse, Ms. Rush has also managed a range of critical care units at four separate institutions. Her direct operational responsibilities also included conceiving, developing, and implementing a system-wide labor utilization protocol based on comprehensive data collection. An innovator was born! More than 20 years ago, Ms. Rush was there at the inception of the informatics-driven process improvement explosion. She was one of the small cadre of quality professionals bringing tools from the Manufacturing Quality Movement into the healthcare space. This work set the foundation for data-driven decision making in the modern health care industry including protocols for data relevance, collection, analysis and reporting. The outcome of this work is an engine to reliably drive financial performance, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency. Ms. Rush and the Minneapolis Heart Institute Healthcare Delivery Innovation team are aggressively taking this pioneering position forward leading healthcare industry thinking in areas such as improving population health management, reducing clinical variation, testing new processes of care and payment models, and creating and leveraging new technologies to improve outcomes. Ms. Rush received her BS in Nursing from Arizona State University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and as valedictorian in a class of over 5000 students, receiving the prestigious Moeur Award. She also graduated with an MS in Nursing Administration from the University of Minnesota.
