Description
Interoperability is the key to better coordinated care and lower healthcare costs. Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) make interoperability a reality by providing the standardization and normalization of data. UHIN, based in Utah, is one of the most successful HIEs in the country. Over the past decade, UHIN’s connectivity has grown to include over 92% of all the state’s hospitals, as well as large clinics, labs, long-term care facilities, pharmacies, and HIEs and hospital systems in 18 other states. As President and CEO of UHIN, Teresa Rivera offers unique insights into the role HIEs play in advancing interoperability, implementation of present-day use cases and the potential they offer.
