Description
One of the core symptoms in both trauma and addictions can be a lack of self-compassion. This seminar presents concrete interventions for helping clients utilize self-compassion to heal trauma and regulate affect. Attendees will learn about the neurological and physiological bases of compassion, including the brain’s care circuit. Most importantly, attendees will learn how to create individually tailored interventions for specific clients that will reduce self-criticism and self-sabotaging behaviors.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
1 Describe the neurological basis of compassion with an emphasis on the brain’s Care Circuit.
2 Discuss the role of memory reconsolidation in transforming traumatic memories.
3 Apply individually tailored self-compassion interventions to reduce self-criticism and self-sabotage.
