Description
Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP™) is a young and growing experiential intervention for trauma these days, with both Dr. Bruce Perry and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk stepping into the conversation. Mindfulness, too, is a relatively young approach to working with all kinds of mental health issues, including trauma. Yet what exactly are these two modalities, and how might they be combined for recovery from the impact of Trauma? Can one utilize both TF-EAP™ and Mindfulness in a Trauma-Informed way? What pitfalls and challenges are present in the practice of either with Trauma, and how can you mitigate those? Healthy, connected relationships with self and others are vital to trauma recovery, and TF-EAM™ offers us ways to make mindfulness practice and relationship-building skills tangible and practical. We'll consider how tenets of Trauma-Informed Equine Assisted Mindfulness™ can support your clients and you as you serve your community.

Attendees will:
• Identify key strategies for Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness practice
• Develop a basic understanding of the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
• Explain the two basic components of Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
• Describe how horses can be utilized in the practice of mindfulness for trauma survivors
