Christine A. Courtois, PhD, ABPP
Christine A. Courtois, PhD, ABPP, retired from clinical practice in Washington, DC in 2016, after 35 years. In the recent past, she has co-authored Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, co-edited two books on approaches to the treatment of complex trauma in adults and children/adolescents, co-authored one book for clinicians on the treatment process for complex trauma, co-edited Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy for Trauma, and authored the consumer book It’s Not You, It’s What Happened to You. Dr. Courtois lectures widely on these and other topics. She is currently chair of the Guideline Development Panel for PTSD Treatment for the American Psychological Association and for guidelines on the treatment of complex trauma for several professional organizations. She has received the American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Professional Practice, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Sarah Haley Award for Clinical Excellence, and most recently the American Board of Professional Psychology, 2016 Distinguished Service Award to the Profession of Psychology.
 
Keri Fager, MS, CTRS, CADC
Keri is the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator for Rosecrance and oversees all experiential therapy programming, including a wide variety of recreation therapy and art therapy services. Keri is a certified recreation therapist and alcohol and drug counselor and has worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for over 16 years She has been with Rosecrance since 2009 where she has provided both direct care and leadership in developing evidence-based experiential programs aimed to provide clinical outcomes in client functioning, symptom reduction, skill development, and overall quality of life. Keri received her Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from East Carolina University and her Master of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Northwest Missouri State University. She has a special interest in and mindfulness and has conducted research on the use of mindfulness-based Therapeutic Recreation in behavioral health treatment.
Michael A. Gillette, PhD
Michael Gillette received is BA from Brandeis University and his MA and PhD from Brown University. He has taught philosophy at several colleges and universities, published articles in the field of ethics and received numerous teaching awards. He is president of Bioethical Services of Virginia, Inc., a medical ethics consulting business. Gillette also has experience in local government, serving on Lynchburg City Council from 2004 to 2016 and as Lynchburg's mayor from 2012 to 2016.
 
Noah Levine, MA
Noah Levine, author of Dharma Punx, Against the Stream, The Heart of the Revolution and Refuge Recovery, is a Buddhist teacher, author and counselor. He has created a Buddhist approach to addiction recovery called Refuge Recovery, that includes peer lead meetings as well as a professional treatment center. He is also the founding teacher of Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society, with centers in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Nashville, and over 20 affiliated groups around North America. He teaches meditation classes, workshops and retreats internationally. Noah holds a Master’s degree in counseling psychology and lives in Los Angeles.

 
Clifton Mitchell, Ph.D.
Clifton Mitchell Ph.D., is an international clinical trainer and keynote speaker who has a love for teaching and over 23 years of training experience. He delivers practical information in a uniquely entertaining, fast-paced style that is filled with humor and examples from his experience in mental health. For over 15 years, he has studied and presented seminars on methods for dealing with resistance in therapy. In his book, Effective Techniques for Dealing with Highly Resistant Clients, he presents cutting-edge approaches for managing psychological resistance. He has trained thousands of mental health professionals in the management of difficult, perplexing legal and ethical issues and is now introducing his latest training in an exciting, dynamic game show format. He has also been the keynote speaker at conventions and taught hundreds of mental health organizations, businesses, leadership groups, and civic organizations effective techniques for improving communications and for creating change through the precise use of language. He has published in numerous professional journals including the Psychotherapy Networker, Psychotherapy in Australia, Journal of Personality Assessment, Perceptual and Motor Skills, Psychology and Education, Journal of Psychological Type, The Professional School Counselor, Vistas, and The Advocate. His research includes investigations of therapeutic resistance, legal and ethical issues, subliminal message tapes, stress and coping, PMS, and personality types. His ideas and writings have also been published in Men’s Health Today and Barron’s Financial Weekly. Dr. Mitchell is currently a professor Emeritus at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he received the Teacher of the Year award in 2002.
Margaret Nagib, PsyD
Dr. Nagib is a clinical psychologist specializing in Christian counseling, inner healing and treating eating disorders, trauma, addiction, self-injury and mood disorders. For over 15 years, she has provided individual, family and group therapy. Formerly as Spirituality Clinical Director at Timberline Knolls, Dr. Nagib created and launched the Christian Treatment path and oversaw the general spirituality program with the goal to restore each resident to wholeness through a deeper relationship with God, helping each one to find her voice, purpose, and passion. Today, as a key faculty member of Timberline Knolls’ Clinical Development Institute, she travels throughout the country providing clinical training and presentations to professionals. Every year, the CDI team offers more than 80 presentations at national and regional meetings, and contributes to awareness and early intervention through media interviews and blog contributions. Formerly, Dr. Nagib worked as a psychologist with the Meier Clinics, the Northern Illinois University Counseling Center, the Glen Oaks Adolescent Therapeutic School and Oak Forest Psychological Services. As an expert in providing treatment from a Christian perspective, she has been featured in Relevant magazine; the Wall Street Journal; Today’s Christian Woman magazine; FOX News; “The Everlasting Love” – a Christian public affairs television program broadcast throughout Chicago, and “Doctor to Doctor” on Trinity Broadcasting Network.
Ross Rosenberg, M.Ed., LCPC, CADC, CSAT
Ross Rosenberg is a psychotherapist, international speaker, author, professional trainer, and codependency (Self-Love Deficit Disorder™), narcissism, trauma and sex addiction expert.  He owns Clinical Care Consultants, a multi-location Chicago suburb counseling center and The Self-Love Recovery Institute, an educational and personal growth company. His trainings, which feature all original work, have been presented in 30 states and twice in Europe and he is regularly featured on TV, radio and online.  Ross’s educational YouTube videos have been viewed over 6.5 million times, attracting over 61,000 subscribers.  His first book, The Human Magnet Syndrome: Why We Love People Who Hurt Us, has sold over 50,000 units and been translated and published in Spanish, French and Czech.  The Human Magnet Syndrome: The Next Generation, a complete rewrite of the original, will be published on 1/15/18.  His next book project, writing his treatment oriented “Codependency Cure: Recovering from Self-Love Deficit Disorder,” features his latest theoretical and treatment oriented work on Self-Love Deficit Disorder, The Codependency Cure, ™ and trauma resolution. 
Maureen Schwehr, NMD
Maureen Schwehr, NMD, serves as Sierra Tucson’s director of integrative services. Her department provides a unique combination of physical and mental health support for residents. Dr. Schwehr oversees a team of experienced and talented staff whose services include naturopathic medical consults, acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic services, massage therapy, shiatsu, zero balancing, somato-emotional release, and craniosacral therapy. In addition to supervising staff, she works one-on-one with residents to help them determine the root cause of their problems. Focus is given to nutritional status and hormonal balance, supporting biochemical pathways that help the body function more effectively. Dr. Schwehr holds a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA.
Shauna Shapiro, PhD
Shauna Shapiro, PhD, is a professor, author, speaker, and internationally recognized expert in mindfulness. Dr. Shapiro has published over 150 journal articles and chapters, and coauthored the critically acclaimed texts, The Art and Science of Mindfulness, and Mindful Discipline. She was an invited TEDx speaker, her 2017 Talk has been rated one of the top 10 TED-talks on Mindfulness. With twenty years of meditation experience studying in Thailand, Nepal and in the West, Dr. Shapiro brings an embodied sense of mindfulness to her scientific work. Dr. Shapiro is the recipient of the American Council of Learned Societies teaching award, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to graduate education, as well as a Contemplative Practice Fellow of the Mind and Life Institute, co-founded by the Dalai Lama. Dr. Shapiro has been invited to present her work to the King of Thailand, the Danish government, and the World Council for Psychotherapy in Beijing, China, as well as to Fortune 100 Companies including Cisco Systems, Genentech and Google. Her work has been featured in Wired magazine, USA Today, Shape, Dr. Oz, the Huffington Post, Yoga Journal, and the American Psychologist.
Chantelle Thomas, PhD
Chantelle Thomas, PhD is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in addiction treatment, trauma and health psychology. Dr. Thomas’s work in the field of substance abuse treatment has focused on the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders in complex co-occurring medical and mental health disorders. Her background in research-supported treatment modalities informs her ability to ensure that the most effective interventions are incorporated into The Manor’s holistic program. As Executive Clinical Director at The Manor, Dr. Thomas provides daily guidance to the clinical team in addition to the individual time she spends with guests and their families.
Karen Kissel Wegela, PhD
Karen Kissel Wegela, PhD, has been studying, practicing, and teaching the integration of Buddhist principles and psychotherapy for more than thirty-five years at Naropa University where she is a professor in the graduate Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology department. She has presented at numerous workshops and conferences both nationally and internationally and is the author of three books. Her most recent book is Contemplative Psychotherapy Essentials: Enriching Your Practice with Buddhist Psychology (W. W. Norton). She is a psychologist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado.
